Chat with Me and Text, text, text Chat with me but make sure you understand the short cuts. Tagalog has entered a new realm - text. When Filipinos chat, expect the codes. Sometimes, I get requests to translate not Tagalog per se, but the text codes. Some examples: Text message punta k d2 agad kc alis me may pu2nthn lang kaya dlian mo. Tagalog Pumunta ka dito agad kasi aalis ako. May pupuntahan lang [ako] kaya dalian mo. Translation Come here immediately because I'm going out. I have to go to some place so please hurry. Text: san n kau; Tag: Nasaan na kayo?; Eng: Where are you now? Text: nagma2dli kc ky d nkpagbhs ng maayos; Tag: Nagmamadali kasi kaya di nakapagbihis nang maayos; Eng: He was in such a hurry that he wasn't able to put the proper clothes on. Most of these are regulars, me for ko or ako, (I, myself, mine); u (you) for any Tagalog word ending in the same sound; 2 (two)- example-22loy (two-two-loy); or if Tagalog syllabication will be repeated example nandi22 (nandidi-two); consonant without accompanying vowel letter - example - for the word kasi (because), it's always kc - pronounced cu (as in cut)then c (see)- cuh-see. I'm sure there are other examples. I hope to collect some in this page. You may send your entries anytime.
